The Level 2 Technical Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care at Barnet and Southgate College enables applied study of the health and social care sector, providing learners with an introduction to key areas relating to current practice. The mandatory units aim to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of key subject areas in health and social care. The optional units within the Extended Diploma allow learners to pursue an interest in chosen subject areas. The Level 2 Technical Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care has also been designed to enable learners to progress to our Level 3 Technical Certificate and Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (which supports progression to Higher Education), further learning at Level 3 and above, or to the workplace.

What you need to get on

Applicants must be 16-18 years of age and will require 3 GCSEs at grade D (3) or above, with Grade C (4/5) or above in English Language and Grade D (3) or above in maths. Evidence of a previous placement within a health and social care setting is an advantage. You will also require a Disclosure and Barring Service.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
