A Level History Unit 1 Y113: Churchill’s view on events 1929‐1934, Churchill as wartime Prime Minister and his role in international diplomacy 1939‐1951. In the wider context of British History the focus will be on the Conservative domination 1951‐1964, the Labour and Conservative government’s 1964‐1979, Thatcher and the end of consensus 1979‐1997, and Britain’s overall position in the world 1951‐1997. Unit 2 Y223: The Cold War in Europe 1941‐1995, will cover the origins, how the crisis developed, the ‘new Cold War’ 1979‐1985 and finally the end of the Cold War. Unit 3 Y306: covers the main causes, frequency and nature of rebellions, their impact upon Tudor governments and the maintenance of political stability. Unit 4 Y100: the non‐exam assessment involves a 3000‐4000 word essay which will cover the Tudor foreign policy and students can choose the focus of the question in this field.
