History A/AS level encourages you to think more critically and will develop your skills of analysis. A wide range of events that have shaped British, European and World History are studied, with the emphasis upon forming your own arguments and assessing the interpretations of historians. The department is staffed by 7 well-qualified History teachers who will be pleased to help you with any questions you may have.

What you need to get on

You will need to have a minimum of 5 A* - C grades at GCSE to study this course with a GCSE at grade B in History. Students must have a great interest in studying people's lives in the past and be aware of major political, economic and social changes that occur in the world today. The most important reason for choosing History at A Level should be that you enjoy the subject.
