This course provides the foundation for anyone wishing to pursue any kind of career in health and social care, particularly those without the GCSE entry requirements for Level 3. It is comprised of classroom based sessions and work placements with the focus on providing services that meet care values and the principles of care, and why these should be the centre of everything we do within this sector. You will attend compulsory work placements as part of your course, which will be in adult and children’s settings to give them a broad overview of what happens in actual work environments which will give you a huge advantage by gaining an in-depth real experience. You will have weekly tutorials which will enable you to reflect on your progress and support you during your course.

What you need to get on

4 GCSEs at grade 3, including maths and English Language.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
