You should follow this course if you have a desire to extend your mathematical thinking and really enjoy the subject. The course builds strongly upon GCSE Maths, particularly the aspect of algebra, so you must be confident in these skills. You must also be prepared to think! You will have to solve problems by drawing on a number of mathematical topics and be prepared to persevere with some lengthy solutions.

What you need to get on

Both internal and external pupils wishing to enter the sixth form will be expected to have met the same minimum academic entry requirements for the sixth form. This is a minimum of 3 GCSE grade 4s and grade 4 in English AND Maths. This course additionally requires grade 7 maths, strong grade 6 will be considered. Please note, we may adjust our offer each year. Check the school's website for up to date courses.
