Have you ever wondered where your rights come from, like your right to vote? Are you interested in how our government is held to account? Do major events such as Brexit or election fraud capture your attention? If so, this might be the course for you. AS Politics will give you an insight into how different local, national, regional, and international political systems operate. You don’t need to have studied politics before but having an interest in the subject is vital. You will need to keep up to date with political changes and take an active part in class debates. There will be a variety of teaching methods used, plus guest speakers and the opportunity to participate in a model United Nations. During this course, you’ll study: The UK Government Different political parties and ideologies How democracy operates and what happens when it falls apart Different voting behaviours The media Human rights.
