GCE A Level in Sociology
at Highbury Fields School, London · school or sixth form
What the college says
Sociology at Highbury Fields seeks to develop both the academic discipline to be successful and the intellectual capacity to critically examine and understand society today. Emphasis is placed on students developing effective communication skills and, in particular, on their ability to write in a logical and well-evidenced way. Through the study of different sociological perspectives students are encouraged to develop an analytical framework for understanding the world, including the impact of social inequalities on different social groups and the importance of government policy in shaping opportunities for the future. Sociology seeks to provide students with the tools that they need to be successful both in their education and in their ability to interpret and contribute meaningfully to wider society.
