What the college says
Sociology is the study of the patterns of social life, how and why they emerge and the way they are sustained. This involves the study of social inequalities, social order and conflict, human communication, social change, culture and identity. These broad themes will be explored through the study of crime and deviance, education, the family and religion as well as addressing issues to do with racism, poverty and sexism. It is a step up from GCSE Sociology studying topics in greater depth and adding greater theoretical knowledge. However, you can study A level if you have not completed the GCSE course.
