What the college says
Sociology is the scientific study of human social behaviour, relationships, and institutions. It seeks to understand the ways in which people interact with each other and the social structures and systems that shape their lives. It is a social science which examines human societies, their interactions and the processes that may preserve or retain them. If you are interested in learning and using a variety of research methods, including surveys, interviews, participant observation, and statistical analysis, to explore a wide range of social phenomena such as race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, social class, culture, religion, and politics, then Sociology will be right for you.
