What the college says
Sociology specification introduces students to the broad range of key sociological topics. The following must be an integral part of the study of each topic area: sociological theories, perspectives and method and the design of the research used to obtain the data under consideration, including its strengths and limitations. The themes should be understood and applied to particular substantive areas of sociology. In addition, students must understand the significance of conflict and consensus, social structure and social action, and the role of values.
What you need to get on
Good literacy skills are required and therefore students should have a minimum grade 5 or above in GCSE English.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
