This course has both a theoretical and practical component to it. The practical element involves you developing as a coach, official or performer with the opportunity to analyse your own performance, evaluate your weaknesses and suggest appropriate corrective measures. The theoretical aspect covers a range of topics including; Applied anatomy and physiology, Skill acquisition, Sport and society, Biomechanical movement, Sport psychology, Sport and society and the role of technology in physical activity and sport. The course requires a greater level of academic ability due to the nature of the assessments. A Level PE includes: 35% Exam Paper 1: Applied anatomy and physiology, skill acquisition, and sport and society. 35% Exam Paper 2: Exercise physiology and biomechanics, sport psychology, and sport and society and technology in sport. 30% Practical: Students are assessed as a performer or coach in the full sided version of one activity in addition to a written/verbal analysis of their performance.
