This subject offers students the opportunity to experience and develop an interest in a variety of roles within sport such as performer, official and coach, and then be able to specialise in one. This qualification looks to equip students with the skills and knowledge required for higher education and/or the world of work. The Advanced Level course builds on the work studied at GCSE to enhance knowledge and increase understanding of the factors that affect participation in physical education.

What you need to get on

Regular commitment to at least one extra-curricular competitive sport. GCSE Grade 6 or above in PE and Grade 5 in Biology (Triple Science) or in both sciences in Combined Science. If a student does not have GCSE PE, they would need to seek approval from the Subject Leader.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
