Mathematics is among the most fascinating of all intellectual disciplines. You will learn how to apply maths by using statistical analysis and modelling in mechanics to solve real-life problems and recognise its significance to other disciplines. You will extend your skills in algebra and trigonometry and develop new skills in the field of calculus, which is one of the most important areas of mathematics. You will develop analytical skills and the ability to summarise numerical data in order to arrive at conclusions. In the new Mathematics A-level, all students will be assessed based on their knowledge of three areas: Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics. The assessment objectives include a greater emphasis on modelling, problem-solving and reasoning, building on the increase in problem-solving in GCSE so students will be better prepared.

What you need to get on

A minimum of a grade 7 in GCSE Maths and an entry test will be required.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
