Students will firstly develop their awareness and understanding of core economic models and then build on this by applying their knowledge to more complex concepts in both familiar and unfamiliar contexts. The course comprises of four themes: Introduction to markets and market failure - focusing on microeconomic concepts; The UK economy - performance and policies - with the focus on understanding the measures of economic performance; Business behaviour and the labour market- with the focus on the business economy and understanding business growth and objectives, as well as the impact of government intervention; A global perspective - with the focus on applying the concepts covered, to the global context whilst looking at international economics.

What you need to get on

Grade 9-5 (A*-C) in five GCSEs including English and Mathematics. Plus, a minimum grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
