GCE A Level in Economics A
at Highbury Fields School, London · school or sixth form
What the college says
Economics is the study of decision making by various economic agents when faced with scarce resources. Students will consider how individuals make decisions about their consumption and careers when faced with a limited budget and time. They will also consider how firms utilise capital and labour to maximise their profits. Finally, students consider how governments and global organisations allocate resources to maximise citizens’ standard of living. The intention of economics at HFS is for students to understand the process that each agent goes through when making their decisions, including a consideration of the trade-offs involved in each decision. By the end of the course, students will be able to critically evaluate economic phenomena that they observe in the world around them.
