What the college says

Economics is a lively and evolving social science that studies the choices that individuals, businesses, governments, and entire societies make. Economics helps you to look more deeply into the world around you how and why it functions as it does. It can also give you new perspectives on some of the most pressing and challenging problems facing the world, the credit crunch, rising food and energy prices, unemployment, interest rate fluctuations, labour force migration and football transfer prices, to name but a few. The course will give you some very useful mental tools and skills that will be helpful in many other aspects of life, not only as a student but also in your working life. With an Economics A Level and related degree you can work in a variety of different fields from stock broking, finance and banking, public policy, sales and marketing, civil service (government departments, the Federal Reserve, etc.), insurance and actuarial work.
