What the college says
The new specification is much more flexible and offers a broad programme of integrated practical, critical and theoretical study using a variety of media and processes. This is supported by work in sketchbooks, first hand experience of relevant works of art, craft and design and other appropriate evidence. A Level Component 1: Personal investigation. 60% of A level. This is supported by a written element of 1,000 -3,000 words. A Level Component 2: Externally set assignment. 40% of A Level. Supervised time - 15 hours.
What you need to get on
Students are expected to have 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above. Each student will be considered individually. A Grade 4 or above in GCSE Art is desirable.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
