Throughout this course you will have exciting and interesting experiences through applied learning. Areas to be covered will include; meeting the nutritional needs of specific groups, ensuring food is safe to eat, experimenting to solve food production problems and investigating current issues in food science and nutrition. An understanding of food science and nutrition is relevant to many industries and job roles. Care providers and nutritionists in hospitals use this knowledge, as do sports coaches and fitness instructors. Hotels and restaurants, food manufacturers and government agencies also use this understanding to develop menus, food products and policies that that support healthy eating initiatives. Many employment opportunities within the field of food science and nutrition are available to graduates. This is an applied general qualification, which means it is designed primarily to support learners progressing to university.

What you need to get on

At least 5 4-9 GCSE grades (or A*-C legacy GCSE grades) with a minimum of 4 or above in GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition, and 4 or above in GCSE English

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.
