If you enjoy English but feel that you can�t choose between language (looking at a wide range of techniques and language in society) and literature (reading and commenting on written texts), this is the course for you. You�ll focus on spoken language and language production as well as studying a wide range of literary texts � a chance to do both aspects of English in one A Level. The A Level English Language and Literature course provides students with an enriching opportunity to explore a diverse range of texts across multiple genres, including novels, poetry, and drama. In addition to literary works, students will engage with various non-fiction texts, such as newspaper articles, autobiographies, travel writing. This course examines texts from both literary and linguistic perspectives. Students will also investigate everyday speech and conversational language, analyzing how dialogue is constructed in both literature and real-life contexts.

What you need to get on

Five GCSEs grade 9-4 and a satisfactory school reference.Including English Language at grade 5 and English Literature (if taken) at grade 5.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
