What is the course about Students will: Study a wide range of interesting and engaging fiction, non-fiction and spoken texts. Use literary and linguistic methods to analyse texts in a clear and coherent way. Explore and make connections between texts using the analytical concepts and methods they learn during the course. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of narrative techniques in literary texts. Choose their own text for comparison with a set text, encouraging independent interests in language and literature. Produce original non-fiction writing for coursework, building on their knowledge of nonfiction genres. To develop skills reading as a writer, and writing as a reader Undertake independent study in analysing and producing texts. Authors include William Blake, Carol Ann Duffy, William Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, F Scott Fitzgerald, Ian McEwan, Bill Bryson as well as transcripts of interviews, different types of reviews, and a range of media texts.
