Are you good at solving problems and considering a career in Engineering? This practical course will see you develop both hands-on skills and academic knowledge of Engineering. You will study subjects such as health and safety, materials as well as build practical skills like machining techniques, fabrication and welding. There will be a strong emphasis developing your mathematic skills for engineering which will be key for progression into work or academic study. With over 40 branches of engineering to discover, our dedicated staff ensure that you cover a wide range of areas to get the best experience on the course. This practical course will see you develop hands-on skills and academic knowledge of Engineering. You will study subjects such as Mathematics, Health & Safety and Electronic Principles, alongside building practical skills in techniques such as welding, machining and maintenance processes.

What you need to get on

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English Language or Maths. At least one GCSE needs to be at grade 4 or above.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
