This course is an excellent introduction to the world of practical engineering and manufacturing skills, or as progression for those who have completed Level 1 Engineering Technologies. You will study a range of subjects, including engineering environmental awareness, engineering techniques, maths and science principles, fitting and assembly techniques, and Computer Aided Drawing (CAD). You will also learn the principles of engineering and gain valuable knowledge of other engineering sectors. Our qualifications are taught by fully qualified industry professionals, passing on their knowledge to allow you to enter a driven industry and lead in the future of the sector. Studies at the Stephen Burke Construction Academy allow you to progress in safe, realistic working environments. You’ll learn practical skills alongside the underpinning principles required to be successful in the industry. All courses offer enrichment opportunities and work experience with partners in the industry. Each year, learners are also given the opportunity to be nominated for a prestigious learner of the year award with Mercedes AMG HPP.

What you need to get on

Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or an equivalent qualification including GCSE maths grade 3 or level 1 equivalent in maths

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
