You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop the skills you need to start your career in this exciting sector.
What you need to get on
Candidates must be able to demonstrate an interest in working in the challenging and exciting field of engineering. For the level 1 diploma you will need to have Maths and English skill at a minimum of Level 1 or above 9GCSE Grade D to G) to study on the level 2 engineering programmes.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
