The course is designed to provide access to learners who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding and knowledge of the engineering industry. With a focus on concepts and practical applications, learners will have the opportunity to explore the fundamental principles of engineering, including environmental awareness, different techniques and problem-solving. By the end of the course, learners should have a comprehensive understanding of the key concepts and principles of engineering, as well as the skills necessary to apply this knowledge in real-world situations.

What you need to get on

3 GCSEs grades 9-3 (or equivalent) including English Language, Maths and Science. Candidates with 3 GCSEs at a minimum grade 3 (or equivalent) including English Language, Maths and Science, will also need to have successfully completed the Level 1 Engineering qualification (C&G or EAL)

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
