The Level 1 Diploma in Electrical Installation is a practical starter course that builds safe working habits and introduces the core principles of the trade. You will learn health and safety, tool identification and care, basic electrical science such as voltage, current, and resistance, simple circuit assembly, cable types and safe terminations, and how to read drawings and symbols. In the workshop you will practise preparing cables, wiring basic lighting and power exercises on training rigs, and following supervised safe isolation procedures. Assessment combines short knowledge tests, observed practical tasks, and a small project with portfolio evidence. By the end you will have the confidence and foundation skills to progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation or apply for related entry level roles.
What you need to get on
2 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, or a relevant Entry Level qualification.

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
