What the college says

Throw on your apron, tie back your hair and take your first steps towards a career in the hotel and catering industry. This programme will teach you basic cookery methods and food and beverage service skills. Youll be practicing your skills with soups, fish and chips, bread rolls, stir fries, carrot cake and more! Youll also have the opportunity to enter competitions, learn tips and be set challenges from a range of industry speakers, and gain inspiration for your own dishes through different trips. You will also be given help to develop your personal presentation, communication and social skills. Well also help to improve your English and maths skills too - so important for your future career! Practical work experience will also be provided in one of the Colleges restaurants.You will need to purchase a Chefs uniform, as well as scales and knives. Your uniform and equipment must be purchased through our preferred supplier. Full details will be provided at enrolment.

What you need to get on

A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 2/F or above, including English or maths.

How you are assessed

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.

What this level means

A first step that builds towards Level 2.
