What the college says
These qualifications are designed for learners who want to develop a career as a childminder, youth worker, nursery nurse or nursery manager. - You must be working or volunteering with children as some of the units are competence-based — that means you have to show that you are able to do certain things in practice in order to pass.
What you need to get on
Experience of working with children, basic knowledge of Childcare. You must demonstrate commitment and excellent interpersonal skills as you will be regarded as the adult in a child’s environment.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
