What the college says

This qualification has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people�s development, supporting children and young people�s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships. It is aimed at learners working in roles that support pupils� learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.

What you need to get on

Learners should be at least 19 years old. � Must complete an initial assessment in English, Maths � Must complete an IAG � Must have or working towards level 2 in Maths, English � Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as they will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
