"This course is for those who work or want to work as a Bench Joiner in the construction sector. It allows you to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Bench Joinery and covers the following skills: Set up and operate a circular saw, produce setting out details for bench joinery products, mark out from setting out details for bench joinery products and manufacture bench joinery products."

What you need to get on

Selection is by interview. You should have successfully achieved the Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent. You may be asked to attend and have a successful outcome from an assessment day. Applications are welcomed from mature students.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
