Graphic design and the creative industries are one of the fastest growing sectors. Everything you use, read and buy has been influenced by some sector of Graphic Design. Studying graphic design at A-Level helps students access this growthindustry. The course requires students to produce a mixed media portfolio. Emphasis is put on versatility, as students are expected to become proficient in both manual and digital techniques to develop their designs. Students will complete skills-based techniques in printing, stencilling, stamping as well as learning how to use industry-standard graphics software, learning to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The graphics room has space for large scale printing, drawing, experimenting and is situated within the DT department so students are close to the laser cutter and CNC equipment to use in the production of their work. Whether its printing A1 band posters or producing 3D packaging. The graphic design department also has dedicated Pinterest and Twitter accounts to help you access the latest in graphic design work of others and latest trends. Making BHC students versatile designers in an ever competitive creative world.
What you need to get on
You will need to have an average GCSE grade of 4.5 or above including a grade 5 inArt / Textiles or been accepted via a portfolio interview.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
