Examination Board: AQA Fine Art at A level will give you the opportunity to improve your artistic skills and develop your creativity. You will experience a wide range of activities in two and three dimensions and be encouraged to develop your own personal style. YEAR 12 FOUNDATION STUDIES Students will be introduced to aspects of the course including: How to create and effectively use sketchbooks to show your journey Explore different ways of recording your ideas through drawing, painting, colour studies, photography and note-taking Explore and learn how to handle a range of two-dimensional and three dimensional media, including ceramics How to explore cultural sources, respond to the work of other practitioners, write critically and analytically about Art and learn about the context of other Artists and cultures Gain in depth understanding of the formal elements of Art, and how to use these to create personal and meaningful responses Study the formal elements, abstraction, portraiture, human form, and complete a landscape mini-investigation titled, “Urban and Rural” You will be encouraged to do this by: Developing work based in response to a personal issue, interest or concern Developing ideas in response to a set theme Taking an interest in current online and live exhibitions, as well as existing Art Galleries independently
What you need to get on
Five GCSE's Grade 4-9, this must include Maths and English Language or Literature. In addition, GCSE grade 5 is required in the subject areas chosen to study at A Level.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
