What is the course about? For the first year you will follow a broad course giving you the chance to develop skills, experiment with media and master different techniques within the areas of drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed-media applications. You will also be introduced to the works of artists and designers in support of your own work. In Year 13 you will work to your own personal theme, in a range of media or choose to specialise. What kind of students is this course suitable for? You will need to be highly self-motivated, able to visually record observations and ideas in a variety of ways, be prepared to visit art galleries and museums in order to observe works of art first hand, be able to develop ideas and show evidence of sustained investigation and exploration, be able to produce your own art work fluently articulating connections with the work of others, but most of all, have a genuine interest in Art.
