What the college says

This is a broad-based course exploring a range of media, processes and techniques. Work produced will be associated with two or more of the following: fine art, graphic communication, textile design, 3-dimensional design and photography. Any media, techniques or processes may be used including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, fashion, graphic design, film, animation and installation. Written analysis of the work of other cultures, artists, designer, photographers and architects is essential as are visits to galleries and museums.

What you need to get on

5 GCSE�s at grade 5+ (or Merit+ in equivalents). If the 5 passes does not include English (language or literature) and mathematics of grade 5+, students must, in addition, achieve at least a grade 4 in English (language or literature) and mathematics. In addition, GCSE pass in Art and Design at a Grade 4 or above. Students who have not studied art at GCSE will be required to present a portfolio of work.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
