Our approach to Art and Design will stimulate your curiosity and knowledge and extend your skills in visual language. Students should be genuinely interested in using and manipulating two and three dimensional materials and evaluating the work of other artists to develop critical thinking. The course begins with a teacher led induction which explores a wide range of materials and techniques to inspire the imagination and develop your skills and understanding for the following thematic unit of work. You will have the opportunity to pursue your own creative thinking with teacher support to develop ideas and practical work. Sketchbooks are used to record and document evidence of progression through media exploration, idea development, annotation and analysis. The Fine Art course is supported by visits to museums and exhibitions and the opportunity of working alongside practicing artists and designers.

What you need to get on

4+ in Art/Art Graphis/Photography. If nor Art/Art Graphis or Photography at GCSE, you must have a portfolio of evidence and interview with the Curriculum Leader.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
