Computer Science is a course based around programming and how computers work. During the course, you will learn about Computer Architecture, Data Representation and Networking amongst other theoretical topics. You will learn how to design computer systems using Pseudocode and create these in Python. You will complete an extended project between Year 12 and 13 which will focus on an area of interest and allow you to create a portfolio to take to university or job interviews.

What you need to get on

Having completed the GCSE in Computer Science would be advantageous but is not essential. A grade 6 in Maths would also be advantageous.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
