Why should I take this course? Sociology is a systematic attempt to explain the influence of social factors on human behaviour. If you are interested in understanding why people behave in certain ways e.g. why some people commit crime and others don’t or understanding why your way of life may be different to other cultures/groups then sociology will enlighten you. Course structure: The AQA syllabus allows you to examine some key social institutions in society and how they shape our identity. You will study 4 units over the two years. AS - Families and Households - Education and Research Methods A2 - Global Development - Crime and Deviance and Sociological Theory and Methods What careers might this course lead to? Any jobs that involve working with people including professions within the National Health Service, Social Work, Police, Prisons, Probation Officers, Education, Law, Politics and in the Media.
