Students will study and be examined on the British education system, the changing nature of family life in contemporary society, sociological explanations of crime and deviance, and approaches to global development. Students will also study a variety of sociological research methods and theories. There are three exams at A2 each worth 33% of the A2 qualification. Each exam lasts for 2 hours and is worth 60 marks. The exams consist of short answer and extended writing questions. AS and A-level Sociology helps students to make sense of the society we live in and understand the cultural and identity issues which affect us all. They will learn a number of skills including the use of evidence to support your arguments, how to investigate facts, and critical thinking. It is relevant to society today so students are bound to enjoy learning about topics that are relevant to everyday life; plus it opens the door to a fantastic range of interesting careers.
