What the college says

AIM We will consider a variety of topics such as the family, mass media, stratification, deviance, gender, ethnicity, globalisation and fundamentalism. These substantive topics enable students to grasp something of the complexity of the social, political and economic institutions in society and of the social relationships they will experience. We aim to provide students with evidence and a conceptual framework to explore contemporary social issues. We also aim to provide students with an exciting learning environment. The department consists of three experienced teachers who use a five lesson cycle teaching structure. Students have an introductory lesson, followed by three workshops with a focus on independent work and a tutorial for each week of the course. This system is designed to meet the needs of a broad range of learners, prepare students for university study and help students become independent learners. See website for modular details.
