What the college says
This course is for 16-19 year olds who have a passion for sport. They need to have an interest in the theoretical content of sport science as well as having aptitude and ability in a particular sport. Having a high sporting level in at least one sport as a performer and/or coach is thus important.
What you need to get on
General Qualifications: For 3 A Level subjects you require 6 GCSEs grades 9-4 in academic subjects, taken in one sitting. In addition, there are subject specific entry criteria which relate to the specific demands of the subject. Specifically for PE you need a grade 5 in both GCSE English Language and Maths. You also need a grade 6 in Physical Education at GCSE or a Distinction level in the BTEC Extended Certificate in Sport.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
