Studying the Subject - Students will cover all aspects of sports physiology, psychology, sociology and biomechanics. They will investigate sport from grass roots to elite level, and the development of competitive sport. Healthy lifestyles, fitness and training, and preparation for sports performance are also covered extensively. From a practical perspective students have the chance to take on and develop the roles of 'performer', 'leader' and official' at AS before focusing on one of these roles at A2. They are assessed at AS Level in a modified game situation and in the full game/activity at A2 Level.

What you need to get on

Subject Specific Requirements - Students should have achieved Grade B in PE or Biology or Grade Bs in Core Science and Additional Science. Students do not have to have studied GCSE PE in order to be successful at AS/A2 Level. It is anticipated that students will have a keen interest in, and an aptitude for and commitment to sport and participate regularly, at club level, in their chosen activity.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
