Photography changes the way we see things. This is an art-based course that will teach you how to look. We would normally expect students to have completed a GCSE qualification in a creative subject (Art or Technology) to start the course; however, this is not always essential if you can prove your ability, commitment and motivation to be successful. Please direct any questions you have to a member of the Art and Design department who will be more than willing to help. You will be expected to demonstrate skills in exploring visual language; the ability to respond to an issue or theme; appreciation of viewpoint; the appropriate use of camera and understanding techniques relating to printing images.

What you need to get on

Typical grades needed 5 x GCSE at grade 4 or above. with a minimum grade 5 in the subject you wish to study or a related subject.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
