A level Physical Education is the study of exercise and sport in terms of human anatomy, health and achievement. It is also about improving the individuals personal skills and performance(s) in a range of sports/exercises, which will then allow them to also lead others in developing their personal skills and performance in sports/exercises. A Level Physical Education is an excellent base for a university degree in sports science, sports management, healthcare, or exercise and health. Physical Education can also complement further study in biology, human biology, physics, psychology, nutrition, sociology and many more.

What you need to get on

A minimum of three grade 5s at GCSE including a grade 5 in GCSE English Language or Literature, GCSE Maths and either GCSE Biology or GCSE Combined Science. You do not need to have studied GCSE PE, however, good practical sports performance is essential, including regular participation in a club/competition is essential.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
