Why should I take this course? The A Level course extends the 7-9 content of GCSE and introduces new areas of Mathematics to study. A Level Maths supports work done in Science courses but also complements other A Level subjects such as English or Languages. Course structure Core Maths you will learn how to solve a variety of complex equations, work with lines, curves and circles, discover exponential, logarithms and series and apply mathematical reasoning to solve problems. The course also involves a large amount of applied maths, focusing on statistics and mechanics. Statistics looks at relationships between variables and various distributions and mechanics looks at modelling particles using different laws of motion in different situations. What careers might this lead to? An A Level in Mathematics is a requirement for many university and college courses. it can lead to careers in the financial sector, medicine, Armed Forces and Engineering.

What you need to get on

GCSE grade 6 in Maths. Additionally, students may be required to sit an entrance exam to determine their suitability for the course.
