Mathematics at A level is split into pure and applied modules: Pure Mathematics (C1-C4) includes topics already met at GCSE level such as trigonometry, geometry and algebra. These topics are taken to a more advanced level and the discipline of calculus is also introduced. Decision (D1) consists of topics perhaps previously associated more with Business than with Mathematics. Students learn algorithms designed for efficiency such as finding shortest routes through networks, calculating least costs and maximum profits. Statistics is a study of the collection, organisation, presentation, and analysis of data from real life problems.

5 GSCEs at grade 9-5 and a grade 7 in GCSE Mathematics.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
