Economics is the right subject for you if you enjoy debating economic issues such as inequality, immigration and how we should pay for healthcare. You will use and interpret data to analyse economic problems, discuss alternative courses of action and support them with well-reasoned cases. Keeping up to date with national and international trends is also important. Economics is about choice and the impact of our choices on each other. It relates to every aspect of our lives, from the decisions we make as individuals or families to the structures created by governments and firms. An economic way of thinking can help you make better choices.

What you need to get on

Requires GCSEs in English language at grade 5 and maths at grade 6, plus the standard entry requirements of an A Level or mixed programme.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
