What the college says

This is a broad course offering exploration in both 2D and 3D areas enabling students to build a substantial portfolio essential for progression to higher study at a college of art or university and to pursue a career in art and design. The emphasis in AS is on exploration and research in both practical and theoretical areas. Observation drawing is a fundamental part of each project along with research and development of ideas. In the AS year students produce research projects and can work in drawing, painting, IT, sculpture and alternative media. During the A2 year the emphasis is on greater depth of study to extend skills and knowledge. Students will undertake a major practical project in their chosen area of interest and must also produce a study with a written component (following first hand gallery study).
