The course builds upon the skills developed at GCSE and allows pupils to understand History at a higher level. Through a range of papers pupils are introduced to a variety of ways of studying history.

What you need to get on

Minimum grade 6 in GCSE History. A minimum grade 6 in Geography, Latin, a Modern Foreign Language, Music, English Literature or Religious Studies may be acceptable where GCSE History has not been taken. General qualification requirements must also be met: GCSE English and Maths at grades 4-9; minimum three GCSEs at grades 6-9, and a further three GCSEs at grades 5-9. Native modern foreign languages are not normally counted. GCSE subject grades may only be counted once.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
