What the college says

History is worth studying simply because it is interesting and challenging, but it is also a long-established academic A-Level course, taken seriously by universities and employers. A-Level History will help you to become an informed, engaged, knowledgeable person. Every year a number of our A-Level historians choose to study History or a related subject at university, which can provide a good route into careers such as law, journalism, teaching, and museums and heritage. Our course covers a range of subjects including the Middle East in the 20th century, the British Civil Wars and the Crusades. Students will be expected to develop as independent learners, reading widely and contributing to seminar-style lessons. We believe our A-Level History course will be challenging, inspiring and popular.

What you need to get on

42 points from your best 8 subjects; GCSE Maths and English (Language or Literature) at a minimum of grade 4, in addition to: A GCSE in this subject is desirable but not essential. However, if you have taken this subject at GCSE a minimum of Grade 5.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
