Economics is an ideal subject for 16-19 year olds who enjoy debating economic issues such as inequality, immigration and how we should pay for healthcare. It is also appropriate for students who are interested in using and interpreting data to analyse economic problems, discuss alternative courses of action and keep up to date with national/ international trends.

What you need to get on

General Qualifications: For 3 A Level subjects you require 6 GCSEs grades 9-4 in academic subjects, taken in one sitting. In addition, there are subject specific entry criteria which relate to the specific demands of the subject. Specifically for Economics you need a grade 6 in either GCSE English or GCSE Maths.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
