Studying economics gives an applied understanding of a wide range of current issues, from the effectiveness of government policy, to the causes of poverty in developing countries. Not only does the course allow the transfer of knowledge, it provides opportunities for skills to be developed and put into practice. Research skills, data analysis, problem solving, communication and working with others, are all important in the study of Economics.

What you need to get on

Eight or more GCSEs at grades 9-4 including a minimum grade 6 in English and Mathematics. If Economics has been studied at GCSE, a minimum Grade 6 is required.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
